Why most skylight leaks are a flashing problem
People often blame the window itself, but nine times out of ten the leak is where the roof meets the frame. Every roof window needs the correct flashing kit for the covering it sits in, whether that is slate, plain tile or a deep Norfolk pantile. A generic kit or a bit of sealant will not hold. We fit the right kit for your roof and dress the leadwork in properly, which is what keeps it dry.
Replacing an old roof window
If your skylight is decades old, misted up or draughty, you do not usually need a new roof to replace it. In most cases we can swap the unit and re-flash the opening in a day, leaving you with a modern, better insulated window that actually opens. If the surrounding timbers or tiles have suffered from a long-running leak, we will tell you what needs making good first.
