Slipped, cracked and missing tiles

The most common call. Ridge and hip mortar

Old sand and cement bedding on ridges and hips cracks, lifts and drops in lumps into the gutter. Water then gets under the ridge tiles and into the loft along the very top of the roof. We re-bed loose ridges or, on the worst runs, fit a dry ridge system that is screwed and clipped rather than mortared, so there is nothing to crack next time.

Lead flashing, valleys and abutments

Lead around a chimney, along a valley or where a roof meets a wall lifts, splits or was never dressed properly in the first place. Cheap mastic patches last a season. We cut and dress new Code 4 lead, chase it into the brickwork and point it, or fit a new GRP or lead valley where the old one has rusted through.

Chimney leaks

A damp patch beside the chimney breast is nearly always the flashing, the flaunching on top of the stack or the pointing between the bricks. Flat roof splits, blisters and ponding

Felt on porches, bays, garages and extensions blisters, splits at the laps and holds water where the deck has sagged. Small faults get a proper patch with matching material. When the felt is past it we strip to the deck and fit a GRP fibreglass or EPDM rubber flat roof that lasts decades rather than seasons.

Moss, blocked valleys and standing water
